Just you and your Mat

Vytas started class yesterday with : " For the next 90 minutes it's just you and your mat".

Which got me thinking about my trusted Prana ( breath ) mat . I've had the 24 " x 69 "charcoal gray mat for 4 years . It has trekked cross country with me to Jivamukti Lafayette ( Jivamukti Yoga ) and Kula Project Tribeca ( Kula Yoga ).

Prana describes it as being cushioning, slip resistant and durable. Yes, it has seen me through many a sweaty vinyasa and bakasana ( crow pose ).

Prana's ( Prana ) mission statement is : " We hope to lighten the load on our natural resources with each small step ". This was validated by their booth @ the Pool Trade Show Las Vegas which had fixtures of fallen wood.

Garment conglomerate Liz Claiborne recently acquired Prana but has adopted to Prana's conscious culture by committing to participate in the

Prana Natural Power Initiative ; a green power program.

Hollywood has also taken notice. Variety's ( Variety Magazine ) The Stylephile cited Prana in it's recent feature " Prada, Prana , Yoga " on the seismic shift from luxury branding to emerging lifestyle resouces .
