UNKLE ft Moby : God Moving Over the Face of the Waters

UNKLE's sublime twist on Moby's " God Moving Over the Face of the Waters". I probably played this in the car driving home in the morning after a long New Year's Eve & Day of partying in order to tune out. Nowadays, it is more a glimpse of SAMADHI after yoga practice or an exuberant kirtan.

I thought of him this week as my iPod randomly played his cut " Honey " , which led me to finding this inspiring video. 2012 turned out to be a great year. I am looking forward to 2013. Based on my travel schedule for this coming January , it is going to be MAHA !

May The Longtime Sun : Happy Trails

Santa Monica has been home for me for over a decade now. The image on the left is of Palisades Park looking out towards Malibu.

I'm a 21st CE nomad. Ever since I was put on a plane alone & travelled by myself at the age of 7 , I knew I was destined to never be able to sit still , to commit to anything for an extended period of time.

So its ironic that I have manged to be based in SaMo for all this time ; the city which turned me on to yoga. Perhaps knowing that LAX is just down the road & having the ability to travel every other week for work has kept me here.

I will be going on hiatus for a while. Will be flying out to Dallas & Houston next week , then heading to Italy the following 2 weeks ( I am intending to drop-in at AYRI Roma ) , Chicago end of Oct. & then onwards to Maya-Mi 1st week Nov. ( evening Mysore at MLC South Beach , yes ! ).

Kirtan : Madhava Prabhu Delhi 2012

Kirtan is congregational " call & response " , chanting with musical accompaniment. It is not meant to be a " performance " or " sing - along ". It is meant to glorify God & chant His names. Kirtan involves BHAKTI , which in turn involves SURRENDER , a concept or process which overly analytical / egotistical personalities will find difficulty in relating & succumbing to.Sravanam kirtanam.

Ratha Yatra : Los Angeles

Today was the celebration of the annual Los Angeles Ratha Yatra AKA The Festival of the Chariots in Venice Beach.This vdo was taken last year but it captures the bhava & bhakti that always flows during the event . It was special for me as I got to drive Maharaj to & from the yatra. Very auspiciously , the temperature outside rose to 108 degrees as we sped through the 101 Freeway.Nitai Gauranga !

Ratha Yatra Puri 2012 : Jaya Jagganath !

21 June 2012 (First day of Ratha Yatra). Usually by sunset, the three chariots of Baladeva, Subhadra and Jagannath would reach Gundica Temple on the first day. This year however, none of the chariots reach Gundica Temple on this day. So our sankirtan party led the crowd in front of Baladeva's chariot to a blissful 6-hour dancing and singing of the Lord's names and glories. Baladeva almost reached Gundica Temple while Subhadra and Jagannath are just about to reach midway. This video is just a little fraction of today's ecstatic sankirtan
